My Fave ‘Quit Lit’

There is a whole world of alcohol-free lifestyles to explore! If you’re just starting your sober curious or alcohol-free journey you may want to check out some Quit Lit Books. The genre of “Quit Lit” has exploded in the past few years. Stories of inspiration and life lessons from other courageous women leading this path abound. It may feel like it now, but you are not alone on this path and there are women out there paving the way!

It can be incredibly helpful to hear stories of how others have navigated their own sober curious and becoming alcohol-free journeys. It is so varied the types of experiences women have around drinking and navigating their relationship with alcohol and going alcohol-free. Sometimes it’s a gentle calling—other times it’s hitting rock bottom and losing everything—which ignites the change. Either way, reading other women’s experiences that parallel our own and drawing inspiration from these authors’ abilities to overcome life's challenges and grow stronger can instruct us to do the same and remind us that we are not alone on this journey.

These are some of my personal faves:

Euphoric: Ditch Alcohol and Gain a Happier, More Confident You, by Karolina Rzadkowolska

Quit Like a Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol, by Holly Whitaker

This Naked Mind: Control Alcohol, Find Freedom, Discover Happiness & Change Your Life, by Annie Grace

Sober Curious: The Blissful Sleep, Greater Focus, Limitless Presence, and Deep Connection Awaiting Us All on the Other Side of Alcohol, by Ruby Warrington

Try searching “Quit Lit” in Goodreads or Audible for more stories that align with you and your journey.

In addition to books, there are blogs, podcasts, and Instagram accounts that can be super motivating and inspirational to continue on the journey. I’ll do follow-up posts on other media, but if you’re interested in finding more today, use the search phrases “sober curious” and “alcohol-free” to find inspiration on cutting back or quitting altogether.
