What if the new year isn't something you have to sprint toward in January, but something you can step into gently, in the dark, right now?

For most of my life, I moved through the year in four seasons, layered with a school calendar and a January reset that never quite fit. Learning the Wheel of the Year changed that. It gave me a living map, with eight turning points, the zodiac seasons, and the moon, all moving together. And it showed me that the old Celtic year began at Samhain, at the start of the dark half of the year.
This Samhain weekend, with Mercury and Venus both retrograde and the moon waning toward the New Moon in Scorpio, everything in the sky and the land is asking us to release, review, and rest. This episode is an invitation to let your year begin with roots instead of resolutions.
IN THIS EPISODE, WE EXPLORE:
What the Wheel of the Year is, where it comes from, and how the modern wheel weaves older traditions together
All eight festivals, from Samhain to Mabon, and what each turning point invites
How the wheel lines up with the cardinal and fixed zodiac signs
Why the year can begin in the dark, and what my molting chickens and clustering bees taught me about rest
The Samhain 2026 sky: Scorpio season, Mercury and Venus retrograde, and the waning moon
How each Human Design type can use their not-self theme as a compass in the dark half of the year
A simple Samhain practice for release and gratitude
Because nothing in nature blooms in November, and nothing in nature is behind.
